ידוע שהנהגת אדמו"ר מהר"ש היתה "בעל-שם'סקע הנהגה" – הנהגה באופן של "מופתים" בנוגע לעניני עוה"ז הגשמי. שזה מתבטא גם בפתגם והוראת אדמו"ר מהר"ש "מלכתחילה אַריבער" – שיהודי מתברך בעשירות ובבנים וכיו"ב באופן של "אַריבער", שאין לה אחיזה בדרכי הטבע, ו"מלכתחילה"!; גם התשובה בנוגע להחיוב של "פרו ורבו ומלאו את הארץ וכבשוה" – שקודם יש לגדול בתורה ויראת שמים וכו' – היא, שההנהגה צ"ל באופן של "מלכתחילה אַריבער" ו"מצוה הבאה לידך אל תחמצינה"!; הענין ד"פרו ורבו" בעבודת האדם עם עצמו – שהענינים לא ישארו ב"מוחין" (ה"אִמות")‏ אלא יבאו גם למדות שבלב (ה"תולדות") עד למעשה בפועל, ובעבודה עם הזולת – כמו שענה נשיא דורנו לא': "עשה לי חסיד ובכך תהי' מקושר"; ביחד גם עם ה"לישועתך קוינו כל היום", העדר המנוחה וכו', צ"ל העונג של "טועמי' חיים זכו" ע"י לימוד החסידות, תורתו של משיח, שעי"ז ימהרו את ביאת משיח צדקנו בפשטות.

We know that the Rebbe Maharash conducted himself in the manner of the Baal Shem Tov – characterized by physical wonders. This is also expressed in the saying and directive of the Rebbe Maharash, “M’lechatchilah ariber” (going “above in the first place”) – where a Jew is blessed with wealth and children etc. in a manner of “over,” beyond the bounds of nature from the outset. Similarly, while some argue that they cannot fulfill the mitzvah to “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and master it” until after they grow in Torah and fear of Heaven, etc. – the response is that one must go m’lechatchilah ariber; “When a mitzvah comes to your hands, do not delay it.” The mitzvah of “be fruitful and multiply” in terms of one’s inner spiritual service is to make sure that one’s knowledge and understanding don’t remain only in the mind (the “mothers”), but extend to the emotions of the heart (the “children”) and to actual deed. And in one’s work with others: As the Nasi of our generation once replied to someone, “Make a chossid for me, and with that, you’ll be connected.” Along with “hoping for Your deliverance every day,” the tireless pursuit of Moshiach, one must also delight in the study of Chassidus, the Torah of Moshiach which hastens his coming – “Those who taste it, merit life.”
